    The judgement dismissing the proceedings regarding defamation of the monument of “the four sleepers” and “gratitude to the Soviet army”

    Two high-school graduates (Daniel and Wojciech) who were arrested on 17th September 2011 for placing on the monument of “the four sleepers” and the monument of the “gratitude to the Soviet army” an inscription reading “RED PLAGUE”, were adjudicated (still not validly) after four years of the trial. On 19th August 2015, the Regional Court for Warsaw Praga North made the judgement reversing the proceedings in the said case due to insignificant social noxiousness of the deed.

    On 04th September 2015, the Court of Competition and Consumer Protection rendered the judgement reversing the financial penalty (nearly half a million Polish zlotys) imposed by the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection upon a public company being the leader on the cash loans market


    The court in Cracow reversed the sentence of “Starch” and dismissed the proceedings

    On 13th August 2015, the District Court in Cracow IV Criminal Appeal Division validly reversed the judgement of the Regional Court for Cracow-Krowodrza and dismissed the proceedings regarding the case of “Staruch” – the leader of the fans of the football club Legia Warsaw.


    Filip Elżanowski, PhD, in Dziennik Gazeta Prawna on the Transmission Act

    On 11th August in “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”, an opinion of Filip Elżanowski, PhD, entitled “The Special Purpose Act Necessary, Although It May Raise Doubts” appeared.

    The text explains, among other issues, why the Act on preparation and execution of strategic investments regarding transmission networks is essential for energy security of the country.


    The “Rzeczpospolita” debate on the new role of the Treasury

    On 12th August, Filip Elżanowski, PhD, took part in the discussion entitled “THE NEW ROLE OF THE TREASURY – the end of the privatization era and what now?”, organized by the “Rzeczpospolita” daily. The special guest of the debate was the Minister of the Treasury, Andrzej Czerwiński.

    On 28th July “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” published an expert opinion of Filip Elżanowski, PhD, referring to the ongoing talks regarding additional supply of capital by energy enterprises to the so-called Nowa Kompania Węglowa. Within the text, the lawyer describes, among other issues, the possible reaction of the European Commission and presents the situation of our Western neighbours, including German bituminous coal mines which have been subsidized by the state for years.     PRIMERUS meeting in Warsaw

    Between 09th – 10th July, the meeting of the regional Board of EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) of PRIMERUS society took place. The ECHW Law Office is the only Polish law firm belonging to this international organization.

    In Warsaw, the representatives of 5 law offices associated in PRIMERUS and constituting the regional Board of EMEA met – MME (Switzerland), Marriott Harrison LLP (United Kingdom), 1961 Abogados y Economistas (Spain), Brödermann Jahn (Germany), ECHW (Poland).


    Filip Elżanowski, PhD, in Dziennik Gazeta Prawna on the Ministry of Energy

    On 02nd July in Dziennik Gazeta Prawna an article by Filip Elżanowki, PhD, was published, regarding the concept of establishing the Ministry of Energy. 

    The attorney presented, among other issues, the current division of competences between ministries and offices in the area of energy industry in Poland as well as the solutions implemented in other countries.
